Hexi Harvest: The Wandering Quilt

Nix’s Hexi Harvest quilt began as a humble pile of fabric and ended as a hand-stitched celebration of color, whimsy, and quiet adventure. Based on the pattern from Tales of Cloth, this quilt took shape over 14 months through the magic of English Paper Piecing (EPP)—stitched entirely by hand, one tiny hexagon at a time.

Thanks to its portability, it became a true companion piece—stitched in cafés, on trips, during quiet evenings, and spontaneous adventures. With over 40–50 fabrics (maybe more, who’s counting?), each little hexagon is a tiny window into a story: scattered illustrations, hidden details, and secret joys, all coming together in a completely improvised gradient layout.

The whole quilt is hand quilted with glittery thread—because why not let it sparkle? The final result is bright, cheery, and entirely whimsical. It’s a quilt that would be right at home in a hobbit hole, draped over a cozy chair with second breakfast nearby.
